It is not often that you hear unqualified praise for Blackpool but Houllier is making an exception. In this case the tactic that is attracting this sort of enthusiasm is the way that they approach the England Premiership Series A Soccer. This praise carries extra weight on the basis that it is given by Gerard Houllier, the manager for Aston Villa. Perhaps there are other motives behind the praise. It seems that Houllier is just getting over a spat with Ian Holloway, his Blackpool colleague. All these dramatic conclusions are in preparation for the game on Bloomfield Road.
A very public spat on the Premier League
It was rather amusing to see two respected managers have a spat about the England Premiership Series A Soccer. It seems that Houllier wants to draw a line under this very public spat which has the capability of becoming rather embarrassing to all the parties concerned.  There were some rather ugly verbal exchanges after the Villa side made an attempt to buy Charlie Adam. He was the skipper for Blackpool. The two bids put forward in the January transfer season were summarily rejected. Perhaps Blackpool felt insulted by the offer or alternatively there were circumstances that demanded a change in the way that the issues were handled. It all had the distinct possibility of creating absolute havoc throughout the process.
Holloway had made something that was akin to a cry for help when he claimed that he was not happy about the publicity that Villa attached to the offer. Although Houllier said that they followed the correct channels, there was something unsavory about the entire affair. This left a bitter taste regardless of how they want to package it now. Houllier is now concentrating on winner the next game in order to avoid relegation. The complement was in reference to the attacking and offensive type of soccer that is typical of Blackpool. This could either be excellent public relations or a real improvement in relations. The spat was distracting at best and devastating at worst. Nobody wants to see to senior sports official feuding unless of course it is a team that is hoping to take advantage of the loss in concentration. Liverpool had real meltdowns against Sir Alex Ferguson because he was able to manufacture some spats that distracted the manager. Therefore if there are better relationships between managers on the England Premiership Series A Soccer, then it is good for the game. Nowadays, people who want to try their luck on a spinning wheel and a ball can simply log into the internet and play roulette online.
