How did it all go so wrong? He seemed like such a nice young man? The fallout from the sale of Torres is reverberating throughout the England Premiership Series A Soccer. On one hand you might argue that Torres can go wherever he wants to go but in reality Liverpool has always appeal to the heart rather than the mind. Such commercial considerations appear to be grotesque in the context of team loyalty. The latest attack has come from Daniel Agger. The fifty million pound move has been dubbed “unacceptable” when in reality that is the commercial basis that drives this league. For a long time fans were complaining that the England Premiership Series A Soccer was becoming too commercialized. It is a great thing to see that the players are finally realizing this fact when it suits them.
Why are people so concerned about the Torres move?
That ugly word known as “jealousy” has been bandied about. Fans might be worried about the amounts of money involved because they will contribute to the inflation of prices for these glorified Football Prima Donnas. Nobody is disputing the fact that these player are technically skilled and that they provide the public with precious entertainment. However the problem with outrageous prices is the fact that they end up being paid by fans who can no longer afford a season ticket. Soccer then becomes a corporate event where there is very little concern for the fans and the sacrifices that they make on behalf of the team.
Anfield was unhappy that Torres quit the club in order to join a rival club. Some people have argued that this is disrespectful. This begs the question as to when the world of England Premiership Series A Soccer has been respectful to fans. They are treated like a bank without rights. They pay extraordinary fees and then they end up with prima donnas that do not want to do the work. It is amazing that the other players are critical of Torres when they are likely to jump at the right price offer. This is really about money. The people that are involved in the saga want to maximize their income and there is no law or regulation against that. Hindsight is a good thing and these days it seems that many players are becoming somewhat sanctimonious. If Torres wants to leave, it is a free country.
